Waiting for Irma

Where: Home

Trip Date: All Week

As you may or may not have heard, the Southeast has spent most of the last week preparing for/surviving hurricane Irma. Between the promise of plenty of rain and serious gas shortages I will not be traveling this week. So, in the mean time, please enjoy some travel sketches from a few of my older sketchbooks (again, mostly lighthouses because that’s just who I am).

Sketchbooks because of Irma

The previously mentioned sketchbooks.

Bodie Island Light

Bodie Island Lighthouse, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Bodie Island Light

Another sketch of Bodie Island.

Hatteras Light

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, also on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Ocracoke Island Light

One more from the Outer Banks, Ocracoke Island Lighthouse.

All three together.

Washington Monument

Look! Not a lighthouse! It is the Washington Monument in D.C.

As I am going through these old sketches, I have realized that I have gotten so much better at drawing lighthouses since I did these way back in 2014/15. That means I will have go back and draw them again soon. So don’t worry that I haven’t included any history this time around, they will absolutely show up again with much more information—probably more than you want.

Speaking of Irma

I know that Irma passed a few days ago at this point, but here are links to a few charities that are (at the time I put together this article) accepting donations for relief efforts if you feel inclined to help out.

Glad you have electricity again. And just as important, if not more….running water!
    Next stop???

I REALLY missed the running water.

I have no idea what is up next yet. This will be a short week for me, so it will probably be something nearby again.
